5-Minute Golden Milk Recipe (Haldi Doodh)
Long before turmeric lattes became a café trend, Indian grandmothers were making haldi doodh, golden milk, as the ultimate remedy for everything from a sore throat to a restless night. This ancient Ayurvedic drink is warming, anti-inflammatory, and deeply comforting. And with VAAHE's Haldi Doodh Masala, you can make a perfectly balanced cup in just 5 minutes.
⏱ Prep Time: 1 minute | 🍳 Cook Time: 4 minutes | 👥 Serves: 1 | 📊 Difficulty: Very Easy
Ingredients
- 1 cup milk (dairy or plant-based — oat, almond, or coconut all work beautifully)
- 1 heaped tsp VAAHE Haldi Doodh Masala
- 1 tsp honey or jaggery (to taste)
- Optional: a few strands of saffron for a luxurious touch
Instructions
- Warm the milk: Pour milk into a small saucepan and heat on medium flame. Do not boil, warm it until you see gentle steam rising.
- Add the masala: Whisk in 1 heaped tsp of VAAHE Haldi Doodh Masala. Stir continuously for 2–3 minutes until fully dissolved and the milk turns a beautiful golden colour.
- Sweeten: Remove from heat. Add honey or jaggery to taste and a pinch of black pepper. Stir well.
- Serve: Pour into your favourite mug. Add saffron strands if using. Drink warm.
Variations to Try
- Iced Golden Milk: Make as above, let cool, then pour over ice. Add a splash of vanilla extract for a café-style treat.
- Golden Milk Smoothie: Blend with a frozen banana, a cup of oat milk, and a tsp of VAAHE Haldi Doodh Masala for a nourishing breakfast.
- Golden Milk Oats: Stir 1/2 tsp into your overnight oats or porridge for a warming, anti-inflammatory breakfast.
- Frothy Turmeric Latte: Use a milk frother after warming for a café-quality frothy latte at home.
Why Drink Golden Milk?
Turmeric contains curcumin, a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compound. Combined with warming spices like ginger, cardamom, and cinnamon — all present in VAAHE Haldi Doodh Masala — golden milk supports immunity, aids digestion, promotes restful sleep, and soothes inflammation. It's one of the most nourishing drinks you can add to your daily routine.
